Ecuador Peaks - Cotopaxi & Chimborazo Kit List

Here you will find the minimum required kit for this expedition. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch with us to ask.



LUGGAGE & PACKS

□ Duffle Bag / Holdall – We will give you a 70L Duffle Bag for this trip. Everything inside needs to be kept dry by using dry bags. 

□ A small combination padlock is advised for use on your duffle. 

□ 25L-35L Rucksack – A comfortable day pack for using on the lower peaks of the expedition

□ 50L-65L Rucksack - Big enough to carry all of your trekking gear, including sleeping bag up the base camps. This will likely be quite heavy, so train with a heavy pack. 


FOOTWEAR 

□ Walking Boots – A well broken in pair of walking boots. Ankle support preferred but not mandatory if you’re a fit / experienced hiker. 

□ Double Boots - Thermally lined mountaineering boots. Can be provided in country

□ Flip Flops / Sandals / Trainers – For use in the evenings

□ Summit Socks - Thick woollen socks

□ Trekking Socks – Good quality trekking socks. Multiple pairs. Merino socks are the best option. 

□ Liner Socks – Liner socks can be useful to prevent friction and aid wicking. 

 

TECHNICAL GEAR 

□ Walking Poles – Highly recommended to help with stability, energy saving and taking pressure off the knees. 

□ Headtorch – Plus spare batteries. 

□ Helmet, Harness, Crampons, Ice Axe - Can be provided in country

 

TREKKING CLOTHING 

□ Hiking / Climbing spec Waterproof Jacket and Trousers 

□ Trekking trousers – A pair of lightweight trekking trousers or leggings. 

□ Softshell Mountaineering Trousers

□ Trekking Shorts

□ T Shirts – Of technical fabric or ideally Merino. Do not bring cotton T-shirts on the trek. 

□ Warm Layers - Fleece or power stretch layers

□ Thermal Layers - Top and bottoms, good to sleep in, and use for those colder days at altitude. 

□ Warm Jacket - A very warm synthetic or down jacket. 

□ Down or Syntheric Gillet or Lighterweight jacket (Optional)


HANDWEAR & HEADWEAR 

□ Lightweight Gloves – A thin fleece pair of gloves 

□ Thicker Gloves – A pair of thicker gloves or mittens

□ Down or Synthetic Mitts

□ Wool Hat or Beanie suitable for going under a helmet (no bobble)

□ Balaclava

□ Sun Hat

□ Buff or Similar - We will give you an LMG T&E buff!

□ Sunglasses - Ideally category 4. 

□ Ski Goggles 


PERSONAL EQUIPMENT 

□ Sleeping Bag - 4 Season, down to -15 degrees or lower

□ Sleeping Bag Liner - For adding warmth to your bag

□ Water Carrying - 2 x 1L water bottles, plus 2-3ltr water bladder

□ Water Purification – We recommend AquaProve—purchase from us for just £10. Chlorine Dioxide or Water Filters also a good choice. 

□ Sunscreen and Lipsalve – Higher the SPF the better 

□ Dry Bags for Personal Kit 

□ Ear Plugs

□ Universal Plug Travel Adapter 

□ Snacks – Can be bought in country. 

□ Books / Kindle

□ Powerbank & required cables

□ Wet Wipes, Personal Wash Kit and Hand Sanitiser 

□ Camera, spare batteries and memory card 

□ Travel Clothes – For travelling and R&R days. 

□ Personal First Aid Kit – A small personal kit is recommended even though the trek team will have a more comprehensive kit. Items such as Blister plasters, Rehydration powders, Paracetamol, Ibruprofen, Asprin, Plasters, Zinc Oxide Tape, Immodium Throat lozenges and Diamox (see your GP for this)
