In April 2026, we had a team of 10 join us for our annual trip to Everest Base Camp. Here's how it went.
Arrival in Nepal
After months of uncertainty due to events in the Middle East, we finally arrived in Nepal. It felt surreal to be on the ground and ready to begin our adventure. The plan: fly to Lukla the next day and officially start the trek.

Day 1: Journey to Lukla & Trek to Phakding
The expedition began with classic mountain unpredictability. Our fixed-wing flight was delayed and eventually cancelled, forcing a quick change of plan—helicopters.
We finally reached Lukla around 5 PM, grabbed a quick drink, and hit the trail. A peaceful walk followed by headtorch hiking brought us to Phakding. Despite the chaotic start, morale was high and excitement even higher for the days ahead.

Day 2: Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Our first full trekking day took us through the stunning Khumbu Valley, with towering peaks and the rushing Dudh Kosi River below.
After crossing the iconic Hillary Bridge, we tackled a sustained climb up to Namche Bazaar. The group handled it with ease and settled into the rhythm of trekking life.

Day 3: Acclimatisation & First View of Everest
A standout day. Under clear blue skies, we climbed above Namche for our first glimpse of Everest.
The panoramic view included Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest—truly unforgettable. We also visited the Sagarmatha Next project, focused on keeping the region clean.
The day ended with relaxation: cafés, pool at the Irish Bar, and soaking in the atmosphere of Namche.

Day 4: Namche to Debuche
A varied day with a mix of flatter trails, steep descents, and climbs. The team continued to impress, embracing every challenge while enjoying spectacular Himalayan scenery.

Day 5: Debuche to Dingboche (4,400m)
One of the most enjoyable days of the trek. Gentle trails and incredible views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam made for a perfect trekking day.
We arrived in Dingboche under clear skies, ready for acclimatisation.

Day 6: Acclimatisation in Dingboche
A crucial acclimatisation day. We hiked up to 4,800m before returning to Dingboche to rest.
With tougher days ahead, the team remained in good spirits and health, preparing for the push toward Base Camp.

Day 7: Dingboche to Lobuche
Our toughest day so far, partly due to minor illness in the group—common at altitude but improving quickly.
We passed the emotional Thukla Memorials, honoring climbers who lost their lives on Everest. A sobering but important moment.
We reached Lobuche, ready for the final push.

Day 8: Everest Base Camp Success!
We made it—Everest Base Camp!
An incredible achievement for the entire team. Limited signal meant short updates, but the pride and emotion were huge. A moment none of us will forget.

Day 9: Descent Begins (Gorak Shep to Pheriche)
After a night at 5,300m in Gorak Shep, we began the descent.
The shorter day took us through Lobuche and Thukla before reaching the open valley toward Pheriche. Spirits lifted as altitude dropped and recovery began.

Day 10: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
A long 20km day. We made good progress early, enjoyed a coffee stop in Tengboche, and pushed through a final climb back to Namche.
That evening, we celebrated with beers and pool—well deserved after such effort.

Day 11: Return to Lukla – Finish Line
The final day: 20km, 1,400m descent, and 900m ascent.
Tired legs met determination, and after 7 hours of trekking, we reached Lukla. A huge sense of accomplishment filled the group—this is no easy trek.
We celebrated together, marking the end of an unforgettable journey. The next step: (hopefully!) flying back to Kathmandu.

Final Thoughts
An extraordinary adventure filled with challenges, resilience, and breathtaking beauty. From flight disruptions to standing at Everest Base Camp, the team showed determination every step of the way.
Simply awesome—well done team.
